Binge eating disorder is the most prevalent eating disorder in adults.
Binge eating disorder affects more adult women than men, with most individuals being overweight or obese. Risk factors for binge eating disorder include a family history of an eating disorder, a history of dieting, and psychological struggles such as stress and poor body image. Children, adolescents, and adults who are average weight can also experience binge eating disorder.
